R.F.O. WEALTH ADVICE
14 A «share» is more of a hope than a real asset A «share» in a trade company is the same thing as a «part» in a company which offers the right to divide, proportionally to the invested amounts, the certain and/or uncertain profits of the company, as long as one is willing, proportionally, to share in its expenses and/or losses. If a company has a fixed and guaranteed income, the «share » offering the right to receive such income constitutes an actual and real asset. If the company’s profits are casual and uncertain, the «share» is more of a hope than a true asset. 1 1 H.F.D’Aguesseau, Œuvres complètes , èd., 16 voll., Paris, 1818-1820.
