R.F.O. WEALTH ADVICE

8 Comprised of more than 5,000 Italian and international menus, and part of a private patrimony, the collection serves as a strong historical and cultural witness to the last two hundred years of Western Civilization. Quality characterizes this collection. It shines through in all the documents and reveals the collector’s discernment and careful research of the menu’s historical and social context, in addition to the beauty of its graphic and its printing as well as its provenance. The digital archiving design already has the implementation ready to create a virtual museum accessible to the public. One must consider that, at the moment, known menu collections are few and with a number of documents limited to hundreds. The most important and known collection is that of the National Public Library in New York. From some of the world’s most significant royal events: a menu from the wedding of his Royal Highness the Prince of Naples, a menu from a lunch served at the Suvretta House in San Moritz in occasion of the wedding of Egypt’s last king, Farouk I, a Claridge’s Hotel menu for a lunch served in honor of King George VI’s 1937 coronation, and a seating chart from a prestigious banquet hosted in honor of the Emperor of France and of the King and Queen of Italy. The collection includes a noteworthy menu from 1918 with an invitation by Giovanni Agnelli for a lunch in honor of the unveiling of an Italian alpine trooper monument by Giorgio Ceragioli. There is a renowned silk menu for an English supper hosted by the British politician George McWatters. The Marchesa Luisa Casati’s name appears as a dinner guest, while other menus are from ceremonies dedicated to illustrious historical and cultural personalities such as D’Annunzio, Garibaldi, Giolitti and Van Gogh.
