R.F.O. WEALTH ADVICE

29 It is a true specialised collecting which takes different forms: specific categories such as railways and trams, mining companies or banks or vaster themes that have kept many issuer companies busy. In other cases the stock certificates refer to the name of the holder including the sought-after Rothschilds and Vanderbilts. They tell the tale of a country’s economy, of friendships and conflicts. The enhancement project carries out a series of activities which are collected ac- cording to an editorial line of “ Cahiers ” that are numbered according to the promoted event to create a true example of business culture in which history is part of a contem- porary context. Historical stock certificates are to be considered antiques and are increasingly loved by collectors, historians, important geopoliticians and sociologists as well as by investors who have discovered antique shares and bonds as an expression of contamination be- tween art and history. The value of some categories is rising continuously. For investors it is very important to use different criteria so as to attach the right value to the certifcates. The value of each piece depends on several factors: the vignette, illustration, histori- cal period, hand-written signature of an important person, the date and/or its condition. Another parameter is its rarity since many of the companies that issued certificates then went bankrupt or were incorporated, conferred or liquidated. Among the subjects interested in scripophily there are many curious people and a growing selection of scholars. The first are truly passionate about the poliedric modali- ties with which the certificates express themselves, the latter’s interest lies in the confir- mation of their immense culture. The unique selection of British and Commonwealth stock certificates from: Canada, South Africa, India, New Zealand and the Mauritius Islands is dedicated to the British ambassador Mrs. Jill Morris during the Milan for the Commonwealth “Finance & Di- plomacy” event to be held on April 10, 2018”.
